Survey fun

Okay, gang, I'm doing an online survey this morning and encountered this question:

"Of your epilepsy patients who are taking multiple anti-seizure medications, how many of them are on only 1 medication?"

Well, OK, I'm not a doctor, so no prescribing meds for me, but I'll take a wild guess and say NONE! Have a Happy New Year!

What troubles me most? This question was mostly likely written by a college graduate . . .

Yup most assuredly college graduate, and from the tone, I'd say Ivy League--Yale I'd bet.

Well that dragged my brain to a screeching halt. I thought "I must have misread that." But no, even after a couple of re-reads I don't think I can give you a reasonable answer.

Perhaps "Everynone of them"?

The answer is clearly "e"

You gotta stop doing these surveys. They mess with your mind.

Ask OMDG, she's the one with the specialized, statistical, scientific, socialized researcher... and if she can't figure it out, she can go to her mentor!

(haha @ OMDG <3)

Well, if you change the question to ' How many of your patients that are PRESCRIBED' multiple epilepsy drugs are only actually taking one of them' than the answer is porbably quite high.

The answer is "Sweet Bay Blue"

Nice. At least it's a simple answer with no research required.

Do they do those on purpose to catch doctors that might be putting in false data?

It's a Zen question meant to trigger off a Zen awakening, or to test if the reader has attained the awakening.

Fun with math. It is possible to prove that 1=0, that 1=2, and that 0.99 is always equal to one. But since all logically consistent mathematical systems are incapable of proving that they are logically consistent, the answer is obviously: infinity.

I hope that helps.

Monty, I'll take what's behind curtain number 3

As a resident this is an easy question to answer! And I am happy to volunteer to answer easy questions because I don't get enough of them. It's something like "all of the noncompliant ones" or "all of the ones who won't take anything that isn't Xanax because 'they don't help'" or "all of the ones who went drinking Saturday night and now have a valproic acid level of zero AGAIN" cause that has been, well, all of those have been, the case here at the local hospital.

The answer is 42 because that's the answer to life, the universe, and everything.

Like Glenda, I have not seen a new post to your blog since 12/31. Have you changed format or sumthin'?

Grumpy, M.D. said...

Nope, not at all. Clear your browser cache, maybe?

I am also not seeing anything in 2011 and I've only had this computer for 3 days, so it is not my cache.

That's really weird. I swear I'm posting, and getting comments from others. I have no idea why it's doing that.
