Alas, my library does not have "Sodomy and the Pirate Tradition," but they do have "Sodomy and the perception of evil : English sea rovers in the seventeenth-century Caribbean" by the same author.

Do you think sodomy/pirates was this guy's thesis?

My favorite: Jewish Chess Masters on Stamps.

I did actually buy one from that website--a very rare history of the chastity belt for $5!

Some of the ones I want are SOLD OUT! For example: "101 More Uses for a Dead Cat" (I want to know the first 101 too!), "Teach Your Wife to Be a Widow" (what, so she can fantasize about your demise?), "The Romance of Proctology" (WTF?), and "Anybody Can Be Cool... But Awesome Takes Practice" (just to compare notes).

I might buy a few favorite titles, like "Fart Proudly: Writings of Benjamin Franklin You Never Read in School" (why not?), "Mrs. Byrne's Dictionary of Unusual, Obscure, and Preposterous Words" (I am a bit of a logophile), or maybe "The History of Torture" (I could use a few new tips).

"Teach Your Wife to Be a Widow"

I suspect (I hope!) this book is about making sure your wife knows how to manage the finances, maintain the house, etc. When my dad was terminally ill, he kept dragging my mom to the computer so he could show her stuff so she would be able to manage after he died.

I am not excited about being a widow, but I have to admit I have thought about how nice it would be to tell my husband's evil drunk parents to go to heck and never have to think about them again, except when I blog about all the things he has asked me not to publish about them while he or they are alive.

I've actually read Blessed are the Cheesemakers!! It's actually quite a fantastic book. It's a fiction novel set on a dairy farm / cheese making place in Ireland. Despite the silly title (which comes from Monty Python's Life of Brian, btw), it is one of my favorite books ever, and has some themes that are a bit more serious than the title would suggest.

Right Rhamantus - I was going to say it's a fake book since it's one of my favourite lines from Life of Brian!
