Mr. Bright: "I had a brain MRI."
Dr. Grumpy: "Do you have the report?"
Mr. Bright: "No. That's personal information. Why would you need that?"
Dr. Grumpy: "I'm the brain doctor."
Mr. Bright: "You are? Oh, I thought you were a neurologist."
Dr. Grumpy: "I am. Brains are what a neurologist does."
Mr. Bright: "Oh. Well, my regular doctor said it showed nothing."
My inner voice: "I'm sure it did."

Maybe you should look in the other direction for this guy's brains.
Wow! The guy was given a referral to you, but not told why? Major fail on the referring doc's part!
Ummmm. If his "regular" doc said it showed nothing, then why is he seeing you? Maybe he was looking for a second opinion - without the benefit of the report?
"I thought neurologists didn't NEED scans? After all, isn't that what all that training is for?"
Bahahahahaha.
Normally, I love everything Dr Grumpy and I come here everyday. Today, however, I am a bit disappointed in your use of "Shortbus." Yes, I know I am joining the ranks of the Offended States of America by pointing it out to you, but it is a little insensitive to those of us who have children that ride the so called "short bus." It implies that you consider those with special needs as dumb.
One of my kids does ride the shortbus. I don't consider him dumb at all.
I changed the post.
That's hilarious, not sure if I could have a kept a straight face on that one
Pfft. Everyone knows that you go see a neurologist for problems with your neuros!
In my country, we would say, "Meee-ooooooowwww!"
Did he allow you to examine him or was that personal information too?
Oh, Dr. Grumpy, not you now too? Bowing to the minority fringe that are "offended"? I never would have thought you'd cave like that.
Bwahahahaaaaaahahaaaa!!! Never share personal information with your doctor. It's more fun to make them guess. Der.
hahahahaha!!! love!
I think he thought you were a urologist.
Regular doc saw a brain scan 20 or 30 years ago in med school, once, it showed nothing then too.
OMG!! Does this mean I should go back to my neurologist (who I saw yesterday) and make her give back all those medical test reports etcetera that I signed releases for?? Gosh gee golly!! And all along I'd been thinking my pcp & specialists were supposed to all be in the loop!!
Reminds me of the old Pardon My Blooper album where a reporter announced, "Yogi Berra was hit on the head with a pitched ball. He was taken to Fordham Hospital for x-rays. The x-rays showed nothing."
but my faith healer shaman cured me and removed my gall bladder by hand without asking for any personal health information.
Thanks Grumpy, that made me laugh. Nice little respite from studying for my organic chemistry final.
I rode a short bus when I was a kid. It was because there weren't very many kids on the route, so they used a smaller bus. Stop being offended, America, and get with the spirit of humor by which the comments are delivered. There was no offense intended, I'm sure.
What about his name, address, and date of birth? Was he prepared to tell you those personal details?
Empty space speaks volumes!

Dr G - My son has ridden the short bus all his life. The short bus has nicer amenities than the other bus. Namely, seat belts and air conditioners. But anyway, I'm actually not offended by the use of short bus because it all comes down to intent. Because I've been reading your blog forever, I know that you absolutely don't mean it in the offensive way, you mean it in the "oy, what an idiot" way. Honestly, so much is about intent, and if people stopped giving words themselves so much power without looking at the intent behind them, we'd all be a lot better off.
