Yo ho and a bottle o' pee!

Dr. Pissy or I occasionally order a urine test. So we have a patient bathroom with a bunch of urine sample cups & lids, and a Sharpie ink marker. Patients are told to write their name on a cup, pee in it, and put it in our lab.

So yesterday afternoon a lady walked out of the bathroom. Annie and I were talking in the hall, and she flagged us down.

"Um, excuse me, I have to give a urine specimen, and want to know how much you need. There are, like, 20 cups on the counter in there, and I don't think I can fill them all up."

But aren't you glad she asked first? LOL She could've been in there for awhile and then asked for a tray for all her samples. HA!

My first ever pregnancy visit to the OB I took my early morning sample in the only container I could find at home--a pint Mason jar. Forty years later, I still remember hearing the nurses giggling in the lab area.

I think she's been talking to my patients-so far this morning I've had, "Can they use pubic hair for a drug test?" and, "Is there formaldehyde in metformin", along with, "Can I drive my tractor while taking HCTZ?" I checked. The moon isn't full til *next* week. Can't wait to see what they all come with then.

Oh, blessed deliveryman of Diet Coke, don't fail me now!

Who said she DID ask first?

Perhpas after ascertaining the answer, she hastily made her way back into the bathroom and tipped the rest of the specimens down the toilet. After which she either threw the containers in the bin and put a heap of paper towels or toilet paper over the top, OR she washed and dried the containers and left them for the next patient.

Medical student here and I'm always falling out my chair laughing at the stories you have to tell! I look forward to seeing some such in the future, writing about it, becoming absolutely famous and retiring :)
