You are awesome! I should know your kids names by now, (having read you for years). But I have been worried about something like this...
"This is my rifle, this is my gun."
"This is for fighting, this is for fun."
Educate kids, or they'll play with things they shouldn't. Lock up what they shouldn't have.
Seriously, every time I hear of an 'accidental' shooting where a kid had their hands on the gun, it was because an adult in the vicinity was a moron and treated a gun like a knickknack or a toy. No, no, no. Unload the things and lock them up. It's like me keeping matches and medications out of reach of my kids when they were small.
Education is important, since the unknown forbidden simply attracts attention. The kids want to know what and why. If they don't know, they'll try to find out, and how they learn can be dangerous. And that applies to far more than just guns.

I don't think the government stats on "accidental death by dildo" come close to "accidental death by gunshot." But I could be wrong. I'd like to see cops with dildo holsters, that would be cool.
Make sure you teach your kids about poisons, prescriptions, drowning, fire, buckling up in the car and guns. More kids accidentally die from each of these than gun accidents.

Teach your kids about gun safety. Eddie Eagle is a good program. It teachs kids guns are dangerous and to get an adult if they find one.
Damn that was funny, great message really! I kept thinking how did they explain what kinda toys they where playing with to the young actors?
What is really needed is gun safety classes taught in schools. I mean, look what teaching safe sex did for children. We now have a higher incidence of teen-age VD's, Abortions, and illegitimate births than forty years ago...oh wait, maybe teaching gun safety is not a good idea.

Can't watch the video, it's "private"... Seems there are a lot of links on the blog that were only accessible to the quick (or local) readers. Think that might mean you're actually being checked out all the time - too good in pointing out important issues/problems/mismanagement...
