Monday Morning

Mrs. Grumpy wanted to go for a carb-laden meal at La Enchilada Grande last night, so I'm very sluggish this morning. And all I could think of while driving in was this.

Interestingly, it wasn't used as an ad. It was done by students in a college film program, and won an award. I actually first saw it in a movie preview, when I took the kids to see Shrek vs. Rocky LXXIIIV.

Ah, diet coke. The new coffee fix. And to think Starbucks thought they had the market cornered.

Gosh, I love diet coke. I've been drinking it since I was at least 10 years old. I even remember when it came in large glass bottles. *sigh*

I still have fond memories coming home from soccer practice in high school. Opening the fridge, cracking open a can of diet coke and chugging that sucker. Utterly refreshing! I still get shivers thinking about it.

Some of those student films were fabulous. I liked the one in the movie theater.

I do think it was short sided of Coke not to use those ads for real. They certainly beat dancing polar bears. And those schlocky sharing a soda and singing ads--yick.

Diet Coke is good but my preference/addiction is Diet Pepsi. If it's accompanying anything spicy, like Mexican food for example, then it's got to be Diet Pepsi Lime.

You are a man obsessed.

Your not so subtle marketing worked though...I had a diet coke on Friday and it was the first soda I've had in years.

I honestly do not work for Coke. My only employer, besides myself, are the occasional medical market research firms I consult for.

Diet Coke made me lie this morning.

I went in to have blood drawn & the tech asked me if I'd been fasting for 12 hours. "Yup," I said. Internal voice: are you kidding me lady?! do you think i could've gotten my ass to this office without my diet coke?!

I can't wait for the nurse's message: "Student Blaze, Dr. B wants you to come in to discuss your test results. It seems your blood serum contained extremely high levels of diet coke."

*evilgrin*

In your opinion, do you think sodas in general contribute to migraines? My parents put Coca-Cola in my baby bottle, so I'm going on 33 years now as an addict.

Everyone is different, and it varies with the person.

I love Diet Coke, too. I occasionally contemplate quitting it, usually because someone is harassing me about the health implications of drinking (said individuals typically have absolutely no medical or scientific training but are so annoying as to make you want to give it up just to make them shut up). Then I realize how mean I will be if I don't have my Diet Coke, and decide to continue drinking it as a courtesy to everyone else.

I want to know...do you really drink it as a breakfast beverage? Now that I live in the south, I see that a lot but it still amazes me.

Mari-Ann: Yes.

I guess I must be true to my Rogue moniker. I prefer Dr. Pepper.

If I need a lot of caffeine, I like the cold cappuccino from WaWa (a Philadelphia area convenience store, like 7 Eleven).

The music is all wrong. Where are those bright shiny Monday morning lyrics?
The silicon chip inside her head,
Gets switched to overload
.

The only thing going for Monday morning meetings is alliteration. That isn't enough. Fortunately, I work nights.

After watching that video, all I can think is, "Hey! I wear Gold Toe socks, too! That are great!"
