He's a nice guy, fluent in both English and Somali (Spanish and French, too), and remarkably helpful.
But, there is one issue with him.
His name (pronounced and spelled as you'd expect) is...
God.
Yup. God.
So when I'm on call, I get to say & hear things I never thought I would:
"Can someone get God on the phone?"
"Where can I find God? MRI?"
"Thank God! God is here!"
"Did you put God on hold?"
"I think God went to lunch."
"Is God out sick today?"
"If God calls back, patch him through to my cell phone."
"If anyone sees God, send him to room 7."
And my favorite: "God's in the pharmacy, talking to Jesus."

So, when the overhead PA announces that GOD is needed in the emergency room, which surgeons run down there?
That's priceless. I hope God's got a sense of humor about the whole thing.
Oh my, God.
That fits perfectly when you can say,"God, please help me understand these people!"
Is Dammit his middle name?
Just wonderin'...
so evil...

Anon @ 6:17 ~ I had the same thought!! "Bet he POs the surgeons!"
He's proof that God exists!
Future Scenario:
courtroom hearing...
judge: as aside to clerk:
what is with this? that is the third surgeon on the docket for a name change this month....
clerk: yes, Judge, I hear "God" is already taken...
LOL It amuses me how parents out there name their children the most peculiar things, surely to be a victim of all jokes/puns.
We also deal with a large Somali population and we really need to find God. Somewhere.
Hey, at least you have a friend in God.
BADA-BING!
Okay so that was bad. But I'm used to bad jokes, having studied at Jesus College, Cambridge....
re: segments... I would venture a guess that "god" is a Somali word/name or portion of a name and not some English speaking, hippie parents seeking attention through their child.

I always thought that God thought he was a cardiac surgeon.
You're lucky he's only an interpreter rather than in administration!
HAHAHA irony in real life. The only thing that could make this better would be if it was set to a musical.
as a surgeon, i am already a convinced polytheist.
Does God really exist, or is he just an imaginary character in a snow globe?
Can't he assume a professional name, like "CrashCart".
Oh God! is probably hear much around those parts of Grumpyville.
Poor fella!
Funny, I have always believed that God was a woman.
'god is a girl' that's what my t shirt from sexshop says.
Gad is a pretty common name in some places. I'm usually just grateful that most Israelis of that name are happy to go by the nickname Gadi instead- it makes things easier.
Hope his surname is not 'Doctor'. Here in TX we have a handful of Dr. Doctor's......although I think they are of Pakistani or Indian descent.
God Doctor. THAT would be awesome.
Are you ready to meet God?
I think I'm a little afraid of Segments God, where are you?
