I got home, and they were all excited. You'd think they'd never seen freakin' chocolates before.
I opened the box, and they all peered in. I said they could each take one.
And immediately, a fight broke out.
Did they fight over who got the first candy? No.
Did they fight over who got which candy? No.
They fought over who got the bubble-wrap packaging.

I see pretty cheap birthday presents in their future! A roll of bubble wrap would be Grumpy-ite heaven!
Oooh, a chance to drive everyone else crazy by popping the bubbles! Especially after they've gone to sleep. . . Yessss!
Dr Grumpy,
I still don't believe the number of "silly" patients you have in your practice. But at least your kids are normal! :-)
Ain't parenthood grand? :D
So, did you win the fight? Ha, ha, just kidding....bubble wrap is pretty fun, though.
Stories like that make me glad I was an only child. And sad that I grew up before the days of bubble wrap.
Bubble wrap is much easier - more fun - and cheaper than therapy....you just spread the big sheets out on the floor and dance all over it and have lots of fun - and voila! your day is bag on track....until the powers-that-be hear a complaint from someone about it and have to have that 'talk' with all of you (and bless the one quasi-management who tried to cover for everyone!!!)
But you know what? If we have access to it on another one of those days - youbetcha we'll be dancing our a***** off on it in the NICU again! *We'll just be very careful who is around when we do it!!!!
...sounds like Sees Candy
Coffee Truffles...mmmm
Reminds me of one Christmas when my husband and I splurged to buy our son a Teddy Ruxpin for $80 - back about 20 years ago (a lot of money then-at least to us).
We propped Teddy up on a worn out trike we'd got at a garage sale for $5.00. My son ran out, knocked Teddy off the trike and took off on the trike - never looking back at Teddy.
When my kids were younger I used to give them small squares of bubble wrap as a reward. Carefully measured so everyone got the same amount, needless to say. They thought it was the best!
Hmm they should call Mary and make an appointment!
This happens at my pharmacy almost daily when the Mckesson order arrives. Just in case it has bubble wrap
The best birthday present I ever gave a five year old was twenty empty boxes and four rolls of bubble wrap.
His mother still hates me.
mine do that. This past week we received a box full of presents from MIL - presents are now thrown to the side and there are daily fights over The Box.
Bubble wrap is awesome! Your kids know what's what :)
Looks like your Solomon-like judgment and a pair of scissors were needed here...
>:)
Love your humor. My cats would enjoy the bubble wrap. Check out my take on humor in my new blog: http://madcatscatharsis.blogspot.com/
So, what does it mean that the 62 year old surgeon I work for fights me over bubble wrap whenever we get a package?
You gotta admire their sense of priorities.
The Solomon judgement comment reminded me of the time when I was arguing with my sister about where to split a chocolate mouse.
My father asked each of us where we thought the mouse should be cut. Since (being younger) I had the tail end I made a mark towards the head, my sister of course made a mark towards the tail.
My father then proceeds to cut the mouse on both lines and eats the middle.
Many years later I asked him how he came upt with this "Solomon worthy" solution.
His answer was "not Solomon at all, I just wanted some of the chocolate!"
*I* love bubble wrap!
Bubble wrap is fascinating! Didn't you ever play with it when you were young?
think geek has a cure for this: http://bit.ly/9m36xn
*evil grin*
Oh my goodness! My brother and I fought over the bubble wrap also! We would always get these packages from relatives and since there was always bubble wrap there, my brother and I would charge for that instead of the sweets or toys that were in the box. Of course, he would get distracted and I steal the bubble wrap from him. And our dad would make us stop because the popping noise would give him a headache. Ha!
