Annie's desk, September 12, 2011

Annie: "Dr. Grumpy's office, this is Annie."

Mrs. Clostridium: "Yeah, I was wondering if my Botox for migraines got approved yet."

Annie: "Hang on... No, your insurance denied it. You only have 2 migraine days per month, and it's only covered for patients who have 15 or more migraine days per month."

Mrs. Clostridium: "But I really want Botox. Can he give me something that will make me have more migraines?"

No worries, your insurance does cover Botulism's more "difficult" cousin. Is gray your color?

Sorry..boards studying.

"Cheap Botox is now available in the marked-down section of your local grocer's. Just look for the bulging cans of Spam!"

Anyone volunteering for 15+ migraines a month makes me question if they have ever had one.

Sure! Take this NTG..

Anonymous is right— those aren't migraines.

What?!? I get cervical facet injections for my migraines, and I could only get the Botox shots once. The 3 or 4 weeks of relief I had from them weren't worth the pain of the shots. I agree with everyone else - she can't possibly be having migraines!

Now that she knows the rule, she'll be back next month telling you she had 15 migraines.

Dr. Grumpy, I have these terrible pains in...um, both feet. Can you prescribe alligator shoes for me?

Please forward me his contact info & I will send him ALL of mine! I have enough per month to get both he & I Botox shots!

I agree with a.generic doc: rules shouldn't be shared with patients. Many of them will lie to get what they want, sadly.

Do the Botox injections for migraines go into the same area that Botox for cosemetic reasons do? The same skin area?

It's a more extensive series, covering the forehead, sides and back of the head, and neck.

That woman is ridiculous to have said that! Sure doesn't sound like a genuine migraine sufferer if she asked a stupid question about you giving her somethign to promote getting more migraines. People are so dumb!

WV=bluiitia: the blue militia that will kick her ass for asking for more migraines

She could also eat foods with MSG
and drink red wine.

ahh, this reminds me of an acquaintance who was denied gastric bypass surgery as she did not weigh enough to qualify. She gained the "necessary" 50lbs so she could have the surgery. Wtf...

OMG! I've had that many migraines in a month and would turn down the botox simply because I would never ever ever want that many shots! OTOH shots tend to hurt nearly as much as migraines.

I think she should get 20+ migraines for a month just so she knows what they really feel like. ::rolls eyes::
