WTF?

My wife bought this recently. It makes no sense to me.

It's like saying "Denver-style Texas BBQ." Or "Seattle-style New York Cheesecake."

Perhaps this sign demonstrates that food is part of culture and it’s impossible to put geographic boundaries on culture.

it totally makes sense. Don't you see there are a lot of Chinese restaurants serving American-style Chinese food? And I am sure the other countries have the same things such as Japanese-style American burger, Dutch-style French toast...
well, as long as they taste good :p

At least it's not "Artisanal."

Around these parts (Philly that is) this is sacrilege. If it wasn't made in in Philly it's not a Philly cheesesteak.

I'm surprised they didn't make it artisanal too!

Not so fast there, Kristin. I pronounce that cheesesteak...artisanal!

I think people forget what 'Philly" means in these sandwiches.

I think the cheesesteak sandwich probably sucks. We have the same thing in my neck of the woods with "Authentic Cajun Cooking" which usually sucks.

What exit?

I think Jess is on to something. "New York Deli Style Philly Cheesesteak" sounds better than "Bad Philly Cheesesteak," but that's exactly what it is. I never understood why people ate Philly cheesesteak until I went to Philadelphia and had one there. Buffalo wings in upstate New York were a similar revelation.

But does it come in one of those Greek-style coffee cups?

nothing good to eat involves american cheese. it's not even real cheese.

tell us where it is really manufactured...probably Ohio...then just send a copy to Mayor Nutter (yeah, that's his name, not making this up) and he can take legal action against the Noo Yorkers or whomever else is not making REAL Philly Cheesesteak. You know how in France it's NOT champagne if it's from somewhere else?

OK...I looked this up for you and it is worse than expected:

maybe the "Chicken Monterrey" is authentic.

I want to know if it's 'artisinal!'

Thank God I'm in Philly and can just walk to the corner for a cheesesteak. And if you've never had a real one you don't know what you're missing.

I have to laugh, real Philly Cheesesteaks are made with Cheeze Whiz.
