WATERVILLE, Wash. – An argument over butter in a macaroni and cheese recipe churned into violence between a brother and sister.

A 21-year-old man called police to say his 17-year-old sister tried to cut his neck with the serrated edge of a spatula

The police report said the sister was making macaroni and cheese when her brother asked if she was using butter. That led to an argument over the difference between butter and margarine, which escalated.

That sounds like the relationship my brother and I had.

I thought the story would end up starring Marie and Frank.

This was the reason I stopped letting the kids watch Power Rangers.

LOL...so could see this happening with Marie and Frank...she's a little ninja :)

But seriously? Butter...it has to be butter. And none of that powder cheese stuff too!

Word verification is latic...that's pretty close to lactic...

As a matter of personal taste I wouldn't smear margarine across the back end of my worst enemy's cat.
Stuff is practically carcinogenic and smells like stale floor wax.
But that's just me, both male and female models on TV seem to crave the crap.

Serrated end of a spatula? That is one serious spatula! Minny

I got into a fight WHEN I WAS NINE about which kind of camel had two humps: Dromedary or Bactrian. Fortunately, no blood was shed.

She's making Kraft Macaroni and Cheese or a generic of same. The box actually calls for margarine. I always use butter, though.

I used to cook for a group of men sharing an apartment. I can't tell you the number of times that one of them walked into the kitchen and picked a fight with me while I was chopping vegetables.

I'd say that house has bigger problems than margarine in their mac and cheese...

Didn't Yankee Doodle name his horse Macaroni? Guess there was a shortage of patriotic thoughts in that household, lol.

Have Myelin? @ 5:05

Yankee Doodle was calling the feather in his hat macaroni, not his pony.

The derogatory slang for the braids and other fancy do-dads on the British soldiers uniforms during the Revolutionary War time period was macaroni.

happens all the time in wisconsin, where violence in defense of dairy is not a crime.

They SAID they were charging her with assault but she insisted it was a sodium-free recipe.

Thank you, I'm here all week.

My husband and I have similiar arguments over butter vs. marg. He like butter, but I grew up with only marg in the house. I can't tell the difference, to be honest. He can (or so he tells me). So to keep the peace, we have both in the house. He uses his butter when he cooks, and I use whatever I want and I don't tell him which one was used.

Before we came to the "have both in the house" arrangement, we never, ever pulled a weapon on each other to settle the difference.

NO WAY!!!! I "stumbled upon" your blog and was just browsing and I can't believe this is here! I just read a follow up article about this fine pair in my local newspaper (Waterville is a very small town about 45 minutes from the larger town I live in). Apparently a bench warrant was issued for her arrest after she failed to show up in court!
