Mrs. Dimbulb: "I had a girl-part ablation. It was like an ovarian ablation, or uterine ablation, or vagina ablation. Something like that. Maybe they ablated my hysterectomy?"
Dr. Grumpy: "Umm..."
Mrs. Dimbulb: "Hey, what does ablation mean, anyway?"

Really? Oh dear. Does she also talk about prostate pain?
Ya know.... I generally feel the need to know what is being done to my girl parts.
Wow. Just... wow. Please tell me this woman is childless.
So if they ablated her hysterectomy, does that mean her ovaries came back? Sweet!
She probably says stuff like "don't hardly ever" too. Snicker.
Soo, what was actually done to her? Ablation in Wikipedia leaves me clueless.
Ablated her cortex, or her lobotomy?
Girl-parts........good GOD, woman, learn the names for the parts of your own anatomy! If you're talking to your friends, I can understand saying "girl parts," but cripes, you're talking to your doctor. Give him a freaking clue as to what exactly you're talking about.
"Oh, and for some reason no one calls me MR. Dimbulb any more..."
Could it have been a brain ablation?
At least she can't put the girl parts into use for reproduction if she's had a hyst...
;)
Kluver-Bucy Syndrome?
Below is the definition from Wikipedia....hmm, I wonder Ablation she had??!!
"Ablation means removal of material from the surface of an object by vaporization, chipping, or other erosive processes. The term occurs in spaceflight associated with atmospheric reentry, in glaciology, medicine, and passive fire protection"
At least she got the procedure right.
It could have been much worse, like they "upbraided my ovaries" or "adulterated my vagina" or "obliterated my hysterectomy".
Most of my classmates wouldn't know an ablated uterus if it slapped them across the face so I say GOOD JOB for at least knowing the procedure, if not the organ in question.
Ablation, ablution, absolution, abduction...
Who can keep them all apart?
I loved my endometrial ablation and will always remember the glorious after-effects.
She must have had a miserable one-night-stand with her ablation to forget about it and move on to other things.
*snicker*
@C Maybe a prostate Cryo? Coolio.
@ Dr. Grumpy I love your blog. I usually end up reading late at night. Everyone in the house thinks I've gone mad.
I wonder if she had an ablation before or after her hysterectomy... cause if it was after, her gyn totally has a case study they can write for re-growth of uterus post hysterectomy -- mad cool points for an interesting case!
I played with a uterine ablation tool... It made me think, oh. heck no! that's never gonna be used on me!
Has she been spaded? (grrr)
Uterine Ablations are the boss. Too bad she had a bad relationship with hers... I'm still in love with mine.
magnus- endometrium is the only "girl part" that gets ablated...i am also amazed that she could remember the word "ablation" but not where it was.
in the process of consenting a teen for a c-section, i once had to explain what a uterus, a bladder, and intestines are- and NOT because of a language barrier.
"Have you ever had any surgeries?"
What does that question mean? Every doctor asks it, but I have no idea how to answer that. If I've had a cyst in my skin removed topically, is the answer yes? What if I've had a colonoscopy, is the answer yes? Etc.
