Bad Ways to Wake Up

My cell phone beeps at 3:47 a.m. on a Monday morning. It's the coroner's office, urgently needing records on one of my patients.

Thats just wrong. There is nothing urgent about "dead".

My daughter says "what on earth does a coroner want that's so urgent? They'll still be dead in the morning!" She's 18 and off to study drama, but I often wonder if she should do stand-up comedy instead.

Lipstick- No, after 12 years she's just learned to zone them out.

On my call weekends, though, I usually sleep on the couch in my home office. This is my decision, because I can get boatloads of calls on those nights, and don't want to bother anyone else.
