I'm guessing Chris is the boyfriend of the female patient's mother.

Maybe the patient's boyfriend and daughter are both named Chris? Maybe the daughter and her boyfriend are both named Chris? I know two (heterosexual) couples who have the same first name (Carol/Carol and Bryn/Bryn). Maybe it's easier just to write one name for both :)

maybe be "boyfriend's daughter".... some people cannot deal with apostrophes and the mysteries of punctuation
