I know you get this alot, but I'm still asking it...
Are you sure you aren't working in Psych?
Ed- Some days (hell, most days) it sure seems like that.
Can you fire patients?
Kate- I do, but not as often as I'd like.
Next time you see her, you should yell at her for coming to visit you at work.
DR G-
One of my bosses gives herself a special Christmas present each year. Every Christmas season, she writes letters notifying five of her least favorite patients they have been fired and must find a new Doctor...
Give yourself an early gift.
Fire a few....though the blog wont suffer, I am sure ten will come along to replace each one you lose....
Wendy
Thank you Wendy not a bad idea.
But sometimes I feel like I'm better off having the camel inside the tent, pissing out, then outside the tent, pissing in.
Psychology, neurology--there's a difference? C'mon they have neuropsych for a reason. Gynecology is doing the same thing--urogyn, gyn-onc. I may try and corner the market on a new subspecialty-gyn-psych. Why not?
Lonely Midwife- Psych and OB/GYN are closely related. From my own experience I'd say you have to be crazy to have kids.
I think she must have planned that one.
"Hey I just gave Grumpy this number. Watch me nut up on him when he calls me back on this line!"
She probably posted the whole story on the GrumpysPatientBlog. I really need to find that site, cause you got some wacky folks in your clinic.
@Lonely Midwife: if you look up "hysteria" in the Oxford English Dictionary you might believe that the Victorians already had gyn-psych as a subspeciality - "A functional disturbance of the nervous system, characterized by such disorders as anæsthesia, hyperæsthesia, convulsions, etc., and usually attended with emotional disturbances and enfeeblement or perversion of the moral and intellectual faculties. (Also called colloquially hysterics.)
Women being much more liable than men to this disorder, it was originally thought to be due to a disturbance of the uterus and its functions: cf. HYSTERIC and the Ger. term mutterweh. Former names for the disease were vapours and hysteric(al) passion"
We may know better today.......
If she does it again, tell her that her *other* multiple personality called you earlier, and that if she has a problem with it she should discuss it amongst herselves and come to a consensus.
