On Call, Again

Mrs. Bluehair: "I suddenly couldn't write with my left hand".

Dr. Grumpy: "Are you left handed?"

Mrs. Bluehair: "No, I'm very strongly right handed. I've really never been able to do anything coordinated with my left hand."

I think you and I share the same idiot patients.

Ha!

I think I should schedule an appointment - suddenly I can't sing in tune.

That's the opposite punchline from the old "will I be able to play the violin" joke.

"Doc, will I be able to play the piano?"

Speechless.

The difference between you and my Student From Heck last week: you asked about handedness at that point. (Or, for that matter, the ability to read/write...)
It will be a long rotation for us all. And it is only 2 more weeks.

So this is "suddenly" as in "any time in the last twenty years or so", right?

Maybe she's a doctor. Apparently, you don't need much coordination to write.

Actually this incident is Dr. Grumpy's fault. If he hadn't asked if she was left-handed she wouldn't have shared this information.

Of course, then he would probably base his treatment on a faulty assumption, but at least he wouldn't be confronted with such bizarre statements!

Maybe she really needs to be seen. I mean, she did forget that she doesn't usually write with that hand anyway.
