Do these people ask their other doctors questions like this?
*For my non-North American readers: IHOP (International House of Pancakes) is a restaurant chain in the US and Canada.

I don't know if they do, but I'm going to start emailing you to ask where my coupon mailing is when it's late. You are obviously the reservoir of all knowledge.
~blinks~ while they're at it, do they ask you to predict the weather too?
Yes; and the propensity to ask such questions is often inversely proportional to the severity of their illness and proportional to their social isolation. Veterinarians see something similar with the owners of their patients.
The answer is always "No"-for future reference.Save yourself alot of grief from patients who dont read the fine print.(and who get the restaurunt &say "but Dr.Grumpy said you did!")

Maybe your patient was just trying to make small talk. People do that when they are nervous. Although I can't imagine you make your patients nervous!
I knew you were my hero in hiding. Now that you are out could please tell me where my car keys are and please get rid of winter. This would reduce healthcare cost because everyone feels better in summer, i know you have to say you cant do it, just do it, i will know who its from
Just go with, "Of course it is" and be done with it.
Actually, Canada doesn't have IHOP. :C
Oh, I thought the website said they did. Never mind.
Then I guess they should drop the "International" part.
Toronto has an IHOP! They get everything...
People think we at the pharmacy will know all these answers...no, I don't know if the AMC gift certificate our grocery store sells, is good at the movies across town...I don't go to the movies and have no clue if they're AMC...no, I don't know the hours or the phone number for the brand new pediatric clinic across town that you don't even know the name of, I'm sorry it's not in the phonebook, I'm sorry I can't Google it for you...No, I don't know if Rite-Aid has cheaper sodas. Please go away so I can help the 15 people lined up behind you.
Yes. I've had them asking what the local bus schedule was or if I knew when the next bus to place-I've-never-been-to would be, or if we went on a little chat about chocolate during Easter, I've had them ask me if I knew where X and Y brand is sold cheaper. I don't even remember. But then again, my husband says "You're a psychiatrist" haha I swear these are not illness-related questions!!
