She came to the throne the year before I was born so she has been my Queen for all my life so far. A wonderful lady who did great service for her Country and her Commonwealth.

She will be sorely missed. Rest in peace Your Majesty.

I'm no fan of the concept of "monarchy" and I would not bow or courtsy, but as a representative of her country she has touched and connected so many people with grace and respect. The history and range of world leaders, extraordinary as well as ordinary people she has met with is astounding. She was an anchor of sorts for so many, especially the British people, perhaps one might say a touchstone to 20th century history for us all. She was part of the greatest generation and she served her country. And FWIW, she didn't ask for the job. Any who follow can never fill her shoes.
