In mid-afternoon I noticed one in particular.
She was standing in the middle of a busy street, with her back to oncoming traffic, talking on a cell phone.
And she was wearing a pink T-shirt that said "Early Detection Saves Lives!"
A Blog detailing the insanity of my medical practice and the stupidity of everyday life.

Professional walker on a closed course. Do not attempt.
"Save the boobs,
(but you don't have to act like one)."
Well you detected her in time.
Little known, from back in the day when I would ride my bike couple of thousand miles per year, before retiring to become the weight gain champ of NJ, Pink is the most visible color for cyclist/walkers as it totally stands out, it is just as visible as the hi viz lemon or orange. After my visit to Mr. Scale this AM, I am coming out and getting on that bike, wearing my pink spandex. Don't puke.
And stupidity consumes others.
They actually have a no cell phone rule. Only the boobs ignore it.
I hope you took a picture = of course only if you could avoid your own traffic SNAFU. could be contender for Darwin awards
If your stupid enough to stand in the middle of the street with a cell phone, and get hit by a car, it's called natural selection.
The real ironic thing is how these walks do nothing to "fight for the cure". It takes a ton of money to organize these things (shirts, water, food, staff). Then to top it off, the people are doing one of the most pointless things ever - just walking in goddamn circles. Fuck, have a pick-up-garbage-for-the-cure or just scrap the walk and keep donations for the actual cause.
Whether all lives are worth saving is an open question.
@eagles222:
Couldn't agree with you more. If you want to get sponsored to do something then do something useful like digging a senior's garden or taking some disadvantaged kids on a trip to the beach.
Asking me to sponsor people for a stupid walk or bike ride is really irritating.
ARGH, I so agree with the comments about stupid human activities more designed to provide social "party" outlets than anything else. The dress-up events are even worse. If you add in the cost of the "uniform" (fancy dress, fancy shoes, hair-do, etc and yes I am female), plus the time involved, there is no doubt you could send in a check and everyone would be better off without the event. But no! We need to show off and socialize. ARGH
Komen has figured out everyone wants a group hug and to slog around the block a few times..it accomplishes nothing...but it makes everyone FEEL like they did something important.
