Who would've thought?!
I have a family, okay?
Mixing them with alcohol neutalizes the impairment, however, so bottoms up.
Jaysus, I give up. I do.
I AM SHOCKED!!!!!
Yeah, well, YOU try driving on the 405 during rush hour without a little something to mellow you out...
Don't you just hate it when other drivers don't have their eyes on the road because they're too busy tying off and shooting up?
You know the old saying- if life hands you a felony conviction, make a medical publication.
Next thing you know they'll tell us that people who drink too much alcohol might have trouble driving.
Well...golly gee...there's a new story for Mary...
Wonder if we taxpayers funded this cutting medical research? (silly me - of course we did)
This week on Reconfirming the blindingly obvious, The award goes to Pauline Anderson and Medscape Medical News.
Did she actually do some sort of study, or was this just a slow neurology news week?
Maybe they can send this study out to some of the pain management guys around here, who (based on their records) don't ever advise their patients not to drive while they take their prescribed massive doses of multiple opiates and benzos and sedatives.
On the other hand driving long distances impairs the effect of opiates.
Shocked! I am shocked!
Um... so, is that what it's called when I'm driving and I see two of everything?
ArkieRN - you took the words right out of my mouth - yes, of course, it was tax-payor funded to "discover" this truth.
ArkieRN and Charles: The study was funded by the Canadian government. To quote:
"This study was supported by a grant from the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care Drug Innovation Fund and the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences, a nonprofit research institute sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care."
Yes, but it takes a great journal like "the Onion" to stand behind their studies and do away with the wishy-washy "may".

RETROACTIVE MULTIVARIATE STUDY SHOWS ELDERLY DRIVERS MORE LIKELY THAN YOUNGER DRIVERS TO HIT THE ACCELERATOR RATHER THAN THE BRAKE WHEN TRYING TO PARK.
Where's my money byline?
Tricia
Nooo way..... :( another example of wasted resources and time.
Hi I have nominated you for The Very Inspiring Blogger Award :)
http://bookpolygamist.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/quick-write-something-inspiring/
Because you inspire me to have a good ole chuckle and make me feel better about the crazies at my work :)
I'd advise that low doses of opiates affect driving. Zilch. No opiates 'On Board'. Take the bus, or a taxi, or stay home.
So the Canadian government wastes money also? Not just ours? Whodathunk!
So you might as well sell your car for heroin money.
Which is why the Velvet Underground never recorded a really good driving song.
But see what happens if you try shooting up on the bus. You just can't win.
But flying a plane is still okay, right?
They do these studies so all of you who want to do your own trial can skip it, you know who you are.
Try driving while twitching from withdrawal. heh ....lose/lose
I had already read this. And it made me think of you ;-)
