Ummm. Ok. She was going on vacation that week and knew that the appointment was sometime during the week but was unclear on the exact date? Maybe?
I agree with Kim--she knew it was somewhere within a block of time that she was going to be out of town. It very well might have been more than a week.

Well, if she doesn't know when it is, then there's a good chance she isn't going to make it.
