First day of school

Today the Grumpy kids (and Carson, whoever he is) are back to school.

It's also come to my attention that classes are starting today at the medical school I attended.

In honor of that, I'd like to show this brief educational video to let the new medical students know what the next 7-10 years of school and residency will be like.

My son started last week. I didn't have to worry about any random kids being dropped off at my house, though, because I am a mean mom and my son rides his bike to school! It's funny...everyone else is driven or bused even though we live about a mile from the school. He leaves our house about 15 minutes after the other kids are picked up by the bus and still gets to school before they do and he always gets home from school about 15 minutes before they do. I'm not sure why more kids don't ride their bikes to school....the school has a bike rack but except for on very rare occasions his is the only bike parked there.

That video seems surprisingly appropriate for med school.

Just about to start final year, and already know that it'll be 3 months of 'ramming speed' until Finals.

WV: ilocyo - sounds like some GI abnormality

Wait, medical school has lots of shirtless, muscular, men? Maybe I should have gone there instead of law school!

Funny I never met a Doctor with washboard abs.

BTW, Elle , I was rather buff during my LS days, but of course I went at night and worked during the day, not like the slothful day timers.

And Ben Hur was there because a tile mistakenly fell from his roof...don't make mistakes! Don't allow them to happen! Suffer the consequences!

@Kim: I walked or biked to school through all of elementary and high school. I kinda was a walking bully magnet and small for my age, so walking/biking the 5km was just much more pleasent.

And, as a side-benefit, I was the only student I knew in my first year who had now problem getting to classes on the sprawling, hilly campus I attended for university! :)

Ugh, that video completely summed up the tortuous hell that is med school. I'm dreading the next 10 years of soul destroying, relentless flagellation from the medical fraternity that seem intent on crushing us mere med students/interns/regs one-by-one. Bastards.

Can you tell I'm prepping for final exams at the moment?!

What happened to the Views from Squad Car guy? I liked that blog.

Will you be serving Carson's favorite meal tonight; in honor of his arrival to the family?

All kidding aside, I really do hope that whoever this Carson child is, gets dropped off at the right house this afternoon.

No wonder I didn't want to go to medical school - lol - didn't need the lashings (although I did always want to go into the medical field but not as a physician or nurse - call me weird).

I do hope that Carson (whoever he may be) got to the right house as well.

Our kids started two weeks ago - the 16th and my daughter started college last Wednesday - so this year I get the honor of not having to take my sone to school unless I need to run some errands prior to daughter leaving. Basically I have to either plan everything to be done on Fridays or after she returns from classes and has picked up her brother from school.

Thanks for sharing with us - E :)

Duke started classes almost a month ago (the PathAsst students are lumped in with the MS1s) and I can attest that it is a slog so far.

So....was it worth it?

Well, that looks simple enough, though not very pleasant :)
