Right. Hence the reason it did not help. (wheels spinning).
At least he realized he wasn't having side effects from it. Some people would blame every ache and sneeze on that darn new med.

Haven't you learned that for many patients getting the prescription even without taking the medication is curative?
I've had many tales of "the last time, he got a prescription and he was better before he even left the office."
well, it would have been worse if he had said he WAS having side effects....
At least twice a day I get paged with "the patient doesn't want to take the medication you ordered."
Let's see - you came to the ER, got admitted, and your doctor asked me for a consult to try to make you feel better.
My standard answer is "so don't take it." The nurse then asks "what should we use instead."
Nothing - let him suffer.
Rumors are that with e-scripts in the race to be the way to write a script, insurance companies will be able to see how patients are not even picking up their first prescription.
I think they should charge these people more for wasting insurance money and the doctors and pharmacy's time.
Our pt's usually take 1 tab and get every SE known to man (or printed on the damn insert.)
Or they ask if the doctor thinks they should be on the medication. Yeah, that's why she prescrbed it!

I've had patients say the medication isn't working and then when I ask them if they're taking it in the morning or night, or with food or not, they go.... oh, I haven't gotten if filled yet! *rolls eyes*
