maybe the patient was hoping to barter and willing to give you the great discounts she receives with her shopper card so you can enjoy more goods in return for your services. not considerate enough to pay in real money, but considerate enough to extend a potential discount.
Perhaps, she got wind of the bartering system now in place at your office. For the love of G-d, Dr. Grumpy life sucks for you! Do you still love what you do? Sure wouldn't blame you if you didn't.

She has stated that she believes the financial market meltdown of 2008 was caused by TOO MUCH regulation, not TOO LITTLE. Kind of incredible considering that the meltdown was caused by NO regulation.
One can only hope she keeps delivering such astute and pertinent pearls of wisdom.
