Priorities

Brent writes in with this bit of drama from his practice:

Mr. Husband: "Can you make a house call for my wife? Her asthma is really bad, and she's having a tough time breathing. She won't go to ER, either."

Dr. Brent: "Just bring her to my office. I'll squeeze her in this afternoon."

Mr. Husband: Well, she's been coughing a lot. And, you know, she has that problem that when she coughs, she leaks urine. I can't have that in my truck."

Dr. Brent: "So bring her in her car."

Mr. Husband: "THE NEW BMW?!!! ARE YOU CRAZY???"

Adult diapers ?

Sounds so much like my former spouse. Just sad.

If you care about someone, there is always a way to make things work.

Astronaut diapers with a towel under and blanket under that and a sheepskin cover under that, or just get a new wife that doesn't leak.

Hope he never has prostate surgery.

Weathertech floor liners might have a new, exciting marketing strategy here!

I'm sorry, but the first word that came to my mind concerning that man was "a$$hole!" (dollar signs intentional).

I think it depends on how much he cares for her.

I must be evil because I hope he DOES have prostate surgery, suitable karma.

I don't know Gloria, if you're evil what does that make me? I hope they do have a baby *in* the BMW on the way to the hospital.

I was just reading about narcissists, too.

(Everything is about THEM. "Oh yes, my wife is dying... but MY things are more important, because the world is about ME!")

Sounds like my father in law. When my husband was in preschool he fell off of a slide and my mother in law called to tell him that she was taking him to the ER. "Not in the car you aren't! He might bleed on the upholstery!" She had to borrow a car to take him to the ER.

Brought back an old memory. I rode to the LA hospital (one hour away) to have Baby, sitting on a rubber crib sheet in DH's 1-week-old Volvo. Told everyone (afterwards) that I feared he'd put me out on the Freeway if my water broke in the car!
[It didn't...and he didn't...and 17 years later, I taught her to drive in the same car.]

So he can afford a BMW but they're too poor to own a towel?

Grumpy:

Am surprised hubby didn't want to put her in the bed of the truck (since he's so thoughtful).

I guess that doesn't get dirty, either.

I'd be driving my BMW to a new garage once I was feeling better if I were her...

Weirdo.

My mothers water broke when she was pregnant with me in my dad's bmw...so while she was at the hospital giving birth, my dad was at home washing out the car....31 years later and she's still mad at him about it....
