As punishment, the judge sentenced him to drink all 12 bottles of Bud Light Lime. His sentence was reduced on appeal to life in prison.

I worked for several years as a nurse in the prison system. I can attest from personal experience that they do indeed arrest the handicapped. I took care of a functional quad who was arrested for DUI. He came to a state prison because the county could not afford his care.
My husband's a cop. One of my favorite stories is of a slow-speed chase of a drunk down the highway at 25 mph. They finally get the guy to pull over, 30 minutes or so in, every car in the county is surrounding this guy. Hub's partner pulls the guy out of the car, he's naked from the waist down. Partner's yelling at the guy..
"Get up! Stand up! What the F is wrong with you??"
"I can't stand up, I'm a paraplegic!"
