"Hey, want some fruit?"

Yesterday afternoon I stopped at Local Grocery to pick up some tomatoes, and noticed this sign in the produce section.

I think the marketing people need a better slogan.

Or just put a 45 y.o. overweight male instead of the little girl...there should be no confusion or witty blog posts then.

Oh wait...

Oooh--I see the mothers of the world (and the political conservatives) about to aim for the carotid.

The fruit themselves are strangely... elongated. Can't believe the marketroids didn't catch it.

I don't think there's any picture that would work. It's definitely the slogan.

I wish we were able to post pictures in the comments. This will have to do.

Obviously they are just wanting to encourage young men to eat more fruit. ::staring innocently at ceiling and humming tunelessly::

Not hard enough.

That's kiwiFRUIT, thank you. The kiwi is the national bird of New Zealand, and it is endangered. The kiwifruit actually originated in China, but New Zealanders were the first to market it commercially.

There's a chain of stores out here (that seem to be related to BloodBath & Beyond) called "Buy Buy Baby."

According to the ads they allegedly sell stuff for infants and small children, but when you say the name of the store out loud, it sounds more like a place you go to not have said offspring in the first place...

Geez, Old MD Girl needs to work on a stand up comedy routine. She's hella funny.

It might just be "Engrish". Foreign marketers come out with some hilariously inappropriate things when they don't understand English well enough to do the translation. Check out engrish.com sometime..

Agree with anon - its a kiwiFRUIT!

I should post you a pick of a misshapen kiwifruit we picked in our orchard the other day - especially for old MD girl.
