I have GERD, and Diet Coke aggravates it something terrible--and I still can't give it up. Sigh.
14 days? I could never go that long without a Coke. I'm impressed.
I knew he would be back - the cult of Diet Coke has powerful charms :). I'm a Tab girl myself these days!
Regrettably, a cracked Dr. Pissy means that the Diet Coke supply has halved, and all Dr. Grumpy types must now share the glorious beverage that is Diet Coke.
That's a nasty side effect.
word verification: rentsta
A staycation for those who rent.
poor dr. pissy, no Coke for that long, and then his failure gets announced so loudly:P
Oh I don't even bother with Diet Coke and just go for the original :D
What a lightweight! I've been off Diet Coke since January. Though, I do miss it. I was told to avoid it because of acid reflux/gastritis issues.
Dear Diet Coke Traitor,
Should you dare to come to my neck of the woods, and frequent my Holiday store, where I obtain my 52 oz of diet coke each morning, each afternoon, and each evening...
I will have to stab thee. :D
No one comes between me and my Calvin Kleins? eh, NO ONE comes between me and my diet coke.
I've been off it (for no particular reason) for years (8? 9? 10?) Can't stand the taste of it now ~
Haha! Was there a bet?
Yanno, I eat healthy stuff. Whole grains, fresh fruits and veggies, lean meats...
... and they will pry my Diet Coke out of my cold, dead fingers. Just sayin'.
My grandfather has been a Coke man for as long as I can remember. Recently his doctor told him to cut back on sugary drinks. He stopped drinking juice. He continues to drink Coke.
O.K. I have to say as a cardiology patient, that doctors are about the worst people I've seen about caffeine. I cracked up because my cardiothoracic surgeon's partner was giving their secretary grief because the coffee in their waiting room was decaf. Yeah you know, for the heart patients?

Y'all can keep your Diet Coke. Just means there is more Dr. Pepper for me. I have had one every morning since high school. Breakfast of champions!
That doesn't look like a Kosher for Passover can of Diet Coke.
When life is crazy and I have to narrow down my reading list from 10 blogs to 2, this is one of them. Thanx for the entertainment. And keep your eyes on your stash of Diet Coke.
did he bother to give any excuse?
I marvel at the neurologist who has a Diet Coke addiction. Isn't aspartame a neurotoxin?
This, coming from the cardiac educator nurse who eats bacon, cooks with butter every day....pot, kettle, blah blah.
Never had one, but now you have me curious..........and thus began his long decline into Diet Coke dependency syndrome.
Did you have to give him back all the ones he gave you when he quit?
BTW,
Regular coke please. Diet seems to give me headaches.
It was a bad idea to start with. Glad Dr. Pissy has come to his senses.
As a recovering DC addict I always wondered what it is in the secret formula. Nicotine?
i loathe diet coke.
coke zero is the way to go, cherry coke zero is even better. they both have that battery-acid burn first thing in the morning that cuts the overnight ick in the throat.
Those with GERD who can't give up Diet Coke...try the caffeine free. Buying that has allowed me to continue drinking Diet Coke. Then again, I'm one of the few people who don't respond to caffeine. It doesn't keep me awake until I get into overdose land. Well, I respond, but only in terms of it flooding my system with acid, to the extent that I will get aspiration bronchitis from stomach acid, t gets in my ears, I cough up acid filled phlegm from my lungs for weeks. It's horrible, so no caffeine for me.
That sooooooooooo made my day, reading that. LOL - I laughed pretty hard. It is hard to break - my drug of choice is Diet Pepsi. I tried to give it up a couple of months ago. I lasted a week. Life is too short to go without those sweet fizzy bubbles...
Thought you'd like to see this news article if you haven't already. It's safe to drink Diet Coke again! Rejoice!

I recently discovered that Coke Zero had started selling Vanilla Zero. I loved the old Diet Vanilla Coke, so I tried it. And the two times I've had it, after about 6 ounces I end up with something like a migraine. Best description I can give of the effect is think drunk and then hangover, though with only a very mild headache - the walls fall down for the whole evening, and the first time I threw up for several hours.
I didn't have this problem with Cherry Zero last month, but I'm afraid to try any diet cola from any company at this point. And of course all the diet sodas now use acesulfame, and I'm very, very sensitive to anything with sulfer....
I guess it's back to coffee.
Seriously, everyone's addiction is keeping me in practice - I deal with all the health consequences of all the pop addicts and no I'm not a dentist. And for the cardiologist nurse eating bacon and butter - saturated fat, but ok for you.
Enjoy! http://www.passiveaggressivenotes.com/2011/05/10/diet-coke-addicts/
