Dr. Grumpy: "Sir, we've been through this before. I'm not the doctor seeing you for those issues. I was consulted because of your headaches. The GI doctor saw you yesterday, and has ordered a work-up for those issues."
Mr. Angry: "She didn't order an MRI of the area, and I want one. She ordered other stuff."
Dr. Grumpy: "I'm going to have to defer that work-up to her. It's not my specialty."
Mr. Angry: "This is ridiculous."
I left the room, wrote a note in the chart, and moved on to the next patient. As I scrolled though some test results my cell phone rang.
Dr. Grumpy: "This is Dr. Grumpy."
Officer: "Hi, doctor. This is Officer Badge of the Grumpyville Police Department."
Dr. Grumpy: "What can I do for you?"
Officer: "I'm sorry to bother you with this. Our 911 desk just got a call from a Mr. Angry. He says you're refusing to order tests on him, and called the emergency line to ask that we arrest you."
Dr. Grumpy: "I..." (I started giggling)
Officer: "Yeah, I know... But we have to address each call."
Dr. Grumpy: "I understand..."
Officer: "I'm just going to note that I spoke to you and nothing further was indicated. Have a good Sunday."

Calling 911 on you just because he was ticked off. Good grief what an imbecile. Cops have a lot more to do than waste their time talking to idiots like Mr. Angry or calling a physician for doing his job. Sheesh, Mr. Angry needs to get a life.
And next he complained to the medical lisencing authority of his state. And dr grumpy had to get a lawyer to guide him in making sure this is dismissed at the first review. Been there. Done that.
Prisoner #1: What are you in for, buddy?
Prisoner #2: Assault with a deadly weapon. You?
Prisoner #1: Arson and murder. What about you, new guy?
Dr Grumpy: Failure to MRI.
[Prisoners #1 & #2 cower in fear.]
Time to fire the patient?
Same thing happened to me as happened to Dr. Also Somewhat Grumpy. Irrational patient demanding something her Medicaid would not pay for, refused to pay out of pocket. She never got past the front desk. Next step, complaint to medical licensing board and investigation consuming months.
Mr. Angry as someone who has done the colonoscopy prep 7 times in the last 5 years all I can say is suck it up, grow up, knock it off you are not getting an MRI. LAMEST ATTEMPT at colonoscopy prep avoidance ever.
"Hello, is this the FBI? I asked a police officer to arrest a doctor for not ordering tests, and he didn't do it. So now I need you to arrest the police officer."
I've been on a lot of stupid calls, but that's a new one on me.
Pt. might have neurological issues after all. There are a few cognitive screws loose.
I can see why you are Grumpy!
I worked in ER 30 years and every once in a while we would get a call from medic control saying someone in the lobby called 911 because they thought they waited too long.
I can't believe you are still blogging!
I'd fire a patient who tried to get me arrested. There are other people who can see them, and deal with their drama.
Noting here that the police have Dr. Grumpy's cell phone number.
