Marketing

My reader Tom writes that a friend of his recently had a vasectomy at a place called, I swear, Dr. Snip.

What really makes the whole thing noteworthy, beside a few bags of frozen peas, is the awesome parting gift they present you with after the procedure:

Now THAT's branding!

Thank you, Tom!

Congratulations on your vasectomy. With this parting gift you now possess the tools needed to start your own Dr Snip franchise.

A cool souvenir, as it's the actual instrument used in your procedure.

Here in Upstate NY, we have a vasectomy specialist whose name is Dr. Stopp.

I read of another doctor who had a funny last name like that, and he gave out his own brand of roasted nuts (seasoned in various ways that some would call...artisan!) at the end of the procedure. Oh, here it is, the last name was just unusual, not goofy.

I'd love to see the television commercial advertising his services.

Oh good Lord. The website on the "parting gift" is live.

Well, if you are in Med school, and your name is Snip, I guess your career options are limited.

As an aside, the urologist my mom is seeing is Dr. Waters.

A friend of mine had the big "V" done. Said his only complaint was he should not have ridden his Harley to the appointment.

We also have a Dr Snip in Australia. I got a beer cooler with mine.

There's a Richard Chopp in Austin TX who does vasectomies. However, I don't think he gives out pocket knives

On the other side of Washington State, North Idaho Urology is now running "March Vasectomy Madness", with radio spots even.

Their website doesn't have all the detail of the commercial, which IIRC offers two chances to win a Visa gift card if you get fixed in March.
