Waking up in Seattle

And checking the internet.

This was on Wikipedia this morning, under the "From Wikipedia's newest articles" section.

Maybe I'm just tired, but it gave me the giggles.

Wikipedia says:

"The Silver Beaver Award is the council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients of this award are registered adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council."

Given the BSA's current bias against anything that whispers sex, I'm astounded that they gave the award to a sex therapist, regardless of his influence on the scouts.

But then, maybe he was a closet sex therapist, like I'm a closet atheist when it comes to my son's involvement in scouts. He likes it; it's good for him.

I'll start wearing my red A pin to meetings AFTER he makes Eagle.

Welcome to the left Coast. Enjoy yourself.

I know nothing of Boy Scouts, I'm a Mother of girls.

Only higher Boy Scout award is the Silver Buffalo...

I guess it won't sound good at all if I say that I have a Silver Beaver...but I inherited my Dad's after he died...which probably sounds even worse.

Too funny!!

A few years ago they showed a newscaster on a Bloopers show who was reporting on an illness campers were getting from drinking from a stream that animals had defecated in. The illness had the unfortunate, but hilarious, name of "Beaver Fever". The newscaster could not say it without laughing. It was hysterical watching him try and keep a straight face. But he just couldn't do it.
