what I'd like to know is where they store them in the off-season?
Oh they keep them down near Antarctica during the off-season - we have all our cruises over the New Year period.
Then they tow them back up to Alaska in time for the tourist season there. Sometimes they stop off in New Zealand for maintenance on the way.
No point having two sets of glaciers doing the rounds.
Maybe since we are in a recession they will put the sun away early this year and go ahead and bring out the glaciers.

Is it any wonder that some folks still don't get global warming, or wouldn't mind tearing up Katmai? Suppose they'd think that they could install a tram-way up the north face of Denali?
I think what he meant is that the ships don't visit the glaciers up close until later in the season because of all the calving when it's warmer. Often the areas near the glaciers will be too full of ice for the ship to get close until it cools down a bit.
