Like they always say- it's not what you know, it's who knows that you know that they know that you know it.

IF you substitute FRIEND for I (the speaker) and FAMILY for they (pt's family) and PT (for she), and assume that the subject of who knows what is the PT's terminal cancer dx, you can make it all make sense.....
Have had a couple of these conversations in context of starting hospice care when hospice is thought to mean
'care to actively end a patient's life without pt consent."
NOT.

They're a very knowledgable family.
