But a recent post about Mrs. Foote losing her shoe heel inspired me to dig through the office's "lost and found" drawer. It needed to be cleaned out, anyway.
Besides an unclaimed pair of sunglasses and a make-up case, I found these abandoned items:
This absolutely fascinating button:
Yet another shoe heel:
Apparently, no one came back for this one. |
A pocket knife:
Cigarette lighter:
I have no idea what this is:
For that matter, I don't know what this is, either:
Electrical tape:
And, somewhat ironically, this was in the drawer, too.

Sixth one down I think is the tool to unlock bathroom doors (household not public).
Or the sixth one may be an extinguisher pull pin.
5th one down looks like it came with your curtains to tie them back
6th one down looks like a fire extinguisher pin, but there is something odd about it, like a square bar welded to a ring, instead of a smoothly bent wire like most of them are these days.
You keep your lost and found stuff in the trash can ?
You found my dad's pocketknife (from 1960 something he would say...) he was in the subset of dementia patients starting to wonder...
bet marie would appreciate it
Don is right -- the "I have no idea what this is" item is a curtain tieback. One of your pts is STILL trying to figure out what happened to it.
And yes, sixth one down does appear to be a fire extinguisher pin. Why someone is walking around with it . . . Just check the office extinguishers and the ones in the building.
6th one down looks like a part off of a trumpet.
Put those all back! MacGyver is going to need them to save the world soon!!
All I can say is that I oddly really want that button ...
That's a cool knife.
One thing you'll never lose, Grumpy, is your sense of humor.
I agree with Avicile Mohaili. The sixth one is the third valve slide ring from a trumpet.

Here to holler TRUMPET PART lol
trumpet..... doesn't somebody go to band camp?
6th one down appears to be one of the finger rings seen on trumpets. It's usually a square bar w/ a ring on it like that, which then fits into a corresponding square tube that has a thumbscrew to tighten at the appropriate length.
The electrical tap actually appears to be self fusing insulating/waterproofing silicone tape. That stuff is awesome.
