Random Saturday pictures

Today I'm going to feature some unrelated, yet thought provoking, shots.

First is this plan posted at a hospital. I think it's particularly important, because when you have to urgently "evacuate" it's good to know where the bathrooms are.

Next is this insanity. When "artisanal" or "handcrafted" aren't enough, they have to pay someone to think of better names. Because just calling it "moisturizer" or "hand lotion" is boring.

On the other hand, it also opens up the possibility of Mrs. Grumpy telling me "Not tonight, honey. Why don't you just rub yourself with some Happy Sensation instead?"

And last, we have this bit of hyperbole from a medical marketing company. Instead of a network or panel of doctors, they have an "organically grown community" of them. Whatever that means.

I'm a librarian. Not a media specialist, not an information distribution technologist, not a research and discovery facilitator, not a literature and visual media consultant - I'm a librarian. I run a library. Because I have a library degree. (Actually, I prefer infoninja but my boss won't let me say that.)

I almost wish that the building my previous institute was in had a sign like the first. When we moved there in May 2009, I once spent a good part of the morning trying to find not just the nearest bathroom but *any* bathroom. (And when I did, I don't think anything could have prepared me for the assault on the senses it was; the walls, ceiling, and floor were all tiled in and the doors all painted blood red. Only the toilets and the sinks were white.)

That does it. I'm going back to school for my MLS. I MUST become an "infoninja!"

Okay, now that you point it out, Nivea's "Happy Sensation" lotion does look silly. (But it smells realllly nice!)

Re organic medical community: The first thing that came to mind was "No artificial fertilizers were used in the creation, just pure bullsh#t."

Organic medical marketing?

What's next artisanal IVs (and other meds)?

I can see it now...
"Made the way Marcus Welby would have ordered it if he had a laminar hood..."

Re the organically grown medical community, why does "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" come to mind?

There are those who after finding the restroom make one need to find the evacuation plan.

Organically grown community - they must be doing the 'go green' thing, and I picture them with weed sprouting from their scalps, ears and nostrils.

WV: debridi. Let's debridi the community and get rid of all things artisanal and 2-legged organic aliens.

I hope there is a warning sign saying ´for external use only´. For any dumb couples who will use it for vaginal lube. I cringe at the though.

Re: the MMC. I'm not sure I want their key insights. Someday, perhaps. Maybe after they become preeminent. I'll even settle for eminent. But certainly not in their formative years when they are only "Pre-eminent".

This made me think of you Dr Grumpy:

So APPARENTLY, replacing calorific beverages with non-calorific beverages is linked to weight loss!!
