2009, actually.
There is a local Nordstrom's; I could stop by and see if there's any signage up...
nordstrom always puts their decor up the friday after thanksgiving. one of the reasons it's my favorite store :)
I like this! I hate walking into stores right now, there is this confusing mash of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas....I feel like I fell into "Holiday Town" one at a time please!
I wrote their marketing department last year about that sign in our own store (MoA) saying that by the very virtue of it, I would buy every Christmas gift from there, and there alone.
I wish other stores had as much class and sophistication!
Keep it classy, Nordstroms.
Mine did the same too...I was so glad after seeing the massive profusion of Hallothanksmas at Costco!
When I was about 7, my family once stayed after closing time in a Nordstorms the day after Thanksgiving. I think the cash register had some major problems during checkout and the management was kind enough to let us hang out for about 2 hours after closing until the problem was resolved and we could pay for our stuff. We got to see people come in and put up the decorations; it was really fun to see the place transform from "normal" to "Winter Wonderland". The company putting up the decorations were also really nice and willing to answer questions from a curious 7 year old kid.
I commend Nordstrom! My aunt was just there a few days ago (I think she might live there) and she said there were signs up; she noticed them for a number of reasons, but, nevertheless, it's quite a bold move, since everyone else has already displayed merchandise and everyone is already buying like mad. Life is too short as it is, I so wish we could savor each Holiday and live each day to the fullest! But who am I, anyway?
Helps one's alertness to time, place, and ? person, maybe. Maybe, not. But, the Christmas decor at this time is just about the most depressing thing I can think of--it just about eats me up with all the bills I'm spacing out paying. Christmas right now, sends a greater sense of urgency down my spine, already. Hey, let me just get ahold of Columbus Day, Fall vacation, winterizing the furnace, and the second of the annual county property tax, before I think of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, and income tax time. Please....fingernails scratching chalkboard.
Word verification: 'psych' (I am NOT psyched!)
Thank you, Nordstoms!!!
I hate self promotion on other people's blog, but I think this post that I wrote will be so appropriate here. Please stop by. http://thepinkteeshirt.blogspot.com/2011/10/nightmare-before-christmas.html
Sorry Dr. Grumpy. You can self promote on my blog if you'd like.
They're already putting up fake trees covered in fake snow in stores here in New Zealand, and Xmas in NZ is in high summer...
Saw this and thought of you...
