Homework

Tonight Marie asked me to look over her math homework. It featured this:

Question: "Write a word subtraction problem using the numbers 18 and 10."

Under it Marie had written: "Frank had 18 words and gave 10 of them to Craig. Frank had 8 words left."

I read this 6 times... I kept thinking there must be a catch.. like maybe the math was wrong? Lol.. Cute though...

My Dad asks everyone to subtract 7 from 100 again and again and again. I think it would be easier if he asked them how many marbles they would have left if he gave them 18 and then took 10 away.

I have no words...

Very precise, following those directions to the letter--or word, as it may be in this case! LOL.

Exactly. But let's hope Frank's remaining words will get him through HIS homework. Otherwise, he'll have to borrow a few words from Marie, and that would mess up the numbers.

That's how my son is teaching his brother to play Scrabble. 300 points for using all his letters, landing on a triple letter (for X) and using a triple word score. He usually wins. But, his brother is catching up.
