Okay, time to hit the mail bag for stuff you guys have sent in.

First is this Engrish sign:

Next up is this school job opening for, um, not sure:

Then there's a fortune cookie...

"Confucious say, when alone, use the self-service pumps."

Then there's this sign. "Lobster Happy Hour" apparently doesn't apply to the lobster:

Here's a vintage drug company promo piece. You'd think Viagra would have been a better choice:

Speaking of Viagra, here's a great pharmacy sign. Love the stick figure.

And, lastly, is this page from a telephone directory:

  1. Where's the mushroom recipe getting sugar from? The mushrooms have no sugar. The hummus should not have sugar.

  2. Well I like mushrooms and hummus but since I refuse to get in an oven I guess my job search will have to continue. Maybe there's a job posting that only requires a short amount of time in the fridge?

  3. The association for the advancement of Hmong?

  4. Yup, Hmong. 2015 was the 40th anniversary of the Hmong migration to Minnesota following the war in Southeast Asia. It seems we used to accept refugees from countries whose wars we get involved in. (On another subject, why take people from a tropical climate and relocate them to Minnesota? Isn't the culture shock enough?)

  6. They must've used Google translate for the sign! :)

  7. OKOK, I am truly laughing. Thanks.

  8. My thoughts exactly about Google Translate. It lacks a little in the mellifluous colloquialism department. But, as for the special screwdriver; one would think that an electric appliance might serve someone with a touch of arthritis, or whatever Oruvail is used for.

  9. Thank you for pointing out the stick figure. I guess I'm just not that observant; I had to look for a while before I noticed the manner in which he was "happy."

  10. The job listing just fractured me but they were all great. Thanks for sharing, Grumpy Community!

  11. The job listing was my favorite too. I'm still laughing.

  12. Hildy, the Hmong people lived in the cooler mountains as farmers. Here in MN, farmers like the Hmong were (and still are) very welcome.

I can just picture how the job listing got there. If you aren't careful when you copy and paste and don't proofread your work, you hire the mushroom recipe you were looking at. At least they are fun guys. ;)
