This morning I was doing an internet survey on Multiple Sclerosis. If featured this question:
"Which of the following in-office gait evaluations do you routinely do on Multiple Sclerosis patients during their appointments:
A. Timed 25 foot walk.
B. Timed 10 meter walk.
C. Timed 500 meter walk."
(If any doctor out there has an office hallway long enough (or even the time!) to do C, you should probably consider downsizing a bit).
Treadmill out of the question?
ReplyDeleteActually, i think it's a typo.
ReplyDeleteI think for heart failure and COPD they do a 6 minute walk test. Ever wonder how many laps that would be in a typical doc's office?
ReplyDeleteA and B are the same. 10 meters = about 30 feet. ????
ReplyDeleteI feel like the difference even between A and B is pretty slim...
ReplyDeleteIs this one of those "see if respondent is paying attention" questions?
ReplyDeleteDoc,
ReplyDeleteNow you know it should be a) right?
Only if the HMO pays by the hour and you have a wheelchair available should you do c).
If you really want to be nice to that patient, you'll also call him/her a cab, since they'll probably be too darned tired to drive home safely for c).
Holy crap. Are you sure # 3 is not a cardiology question to check ejection fraction?
