Ummmmmm...

While browsing Google books yesterday I noticed this:

  1. Benjamin Britten was a European Power? Who knew?

(Somebody goofed on the blurb there.)

  2. So . . . bagpipes? The accordion?

  3. Enh. Britten was all of one or two years old when the Great War started. By WWII, of course, he was a confirmed pacifist, but we mustn't get our dates muddled.

Obviously, someone at Garland attached the blurb of one book to the title and image of another.

  4. Especially ironic given that Britten was a die-hard pacifist, the composer of many anti-war works including the monumental War Requiem of 1962.

  5. That's one expensive book:

  8. Google Books is an unremitting nightmare. I tried putting up books to sell. The interface is like a "how not to" illustration from a HID textbook. The search feature (and this is GOOGLE, for the love of Mike) is atrocious. And they randomly deep discount things without warning, which screws over authors big time. Stay away from it.

  9. What I'm most amused by is that a couple people found it necessary to explain to the rest of us that someone messed up the blurb. Gee, really?

So wadda you think?
