Alternative medicine

Dr. Grumpy: "Didn't you used to take blood pressure medication?"

Mr. Mercury: "I did, but I was able to control it with lifestyle changes."

Dr. Grumpy: "Did you lose weight?"

Mr. Mercury: "Nope. Got a divorce."

  1. It does help a lot if certain stressors in your life are disposed of...!

  2. Don't laugh. It works.

And at least for me it was cheaper than paying for the meds.

  3. Ha ha. Wish docs could write a script for that. My father in law needs it.
Might help his blood sugar too.

  4. I went with my husband to the chiropractor for an adjustment. After describing his symptoms, the doctor asked "how long have you had this pain in your neck."

Hubby looked at me and asked, "How long have we been married?"

  11. The upside to losing my job was that my blood pressure dropped enough that the dose of medication had to be lowered.

Also, the idea that weight loss alone changes blood pressure is an old myth. I can cite. It turns out that skinny people who sit on their ass are just as likely to have high blood pressure as fat people who sit on their ass. Want to lower your blood pressure? Exercise more. Just go take a walk. #1 way to do it, guaranteed.
