  2. Not as atypical as you think, the trend in survey designs now (at least as related to biomedical studies), is to use an odd number of responses so there is a choice that is smack dab in the middle. Though 5 and 7 are most commonly seen.

  3. It makes perfect sense to have a choice exactly in the middle for the neither/nor answers - less stress and waste of time to decide whether you should mark 5 or 6 out of 10!

  4. Thanks for making me snort coffee out of my nose this morning.

What I tell my doctor applies to you, also... "You can never retire"!

  6. You should live in the UK - the volume on the BBC iPlayer (listen/watch again) goes up to 11. One louder!

  7. Number 1 "performs extremely poorly" on the chart in comparison to number 5 "No effect" makes it seem like an anti-medicine making the patient worse.

  8. Even my Marshall amp only goes up to 10.

  9. It's like, how much more "performs extremely well" could this be? And the answer is none- none more "performs extremely well."

  14. Technically a 0-10 scale has 11 pts also...

  15. Oooooh I like that Licard (sp?) scale much better!! And how loverly so see all of my favorite meds in a row! ::snicker:: Sorry, I've been having a fibro flare this week. But actually having an 11 point scale set out like this is more likely to make responders make their choices... ack! brain fart!... more thoughtfully which will result in a more (argh! not again!) statistically (word) study.

    Sometimes I hate my brain.

  16. Hmmm... Lamictal is a 9 in my book. Performs well but not extremely well.

...kind of envious of that "11."
