Time to hit the email bag for shots you guys have sent me.
First, this screenshot shows the dangers of having your site truncated by browser software:
Next we have this snack bar:
I think I'll just have the plain cheese pizza, hold the toppings.
And here's a fine example of (probably artisanal) coffee:
It might be really good, but if I were at a coffee place and a guy said to me "Hey! Would you like to taste mysore nuggets?" I'd probably run. Fast.
Next is a beer that believes in truth in advertising:
Here's an ad for a resort's play facility:
They apparently have a higher opinion of 6-week-old human motor skills than I do.
This is from an interview with a Best Buy executive, describing company plans. I don't understand this, which is why I guess I'm not an MBA. In fact, it sounds like a story from the Onion.
To show yet another irritating overuse of the word "artisan" we have this mass-produced vinyl barbecue cover:
And finally, since it is April 1, here's one of my favorite pranks ever:
Re: Mysore -- guess you don't eat much Indian food, eh? Mysore is an area of India. The Mysore masala dosa is one of my favorite south Indian dishes. YUM.
ReplyDeleteRe: Pony -- but them's good eatin's!
(but not in a dosa.)
Your best post ever, start to finish.
ReplyDeleteBig smile!
Didja see reference to Mr Grumpy on the Wikipedia April 1 home page? (Gone now.)

An uncle of yours?
Mysore is a city in India.
ReplyDeleteYes, but it was the juxtaposition of the words, and combined pronunciation, that I was laughing at. Not the city itself.
ReplyDeleteIf you have to explain the joke....
ReplyDeleteI needed no explanation . . . besides, on the same label, it says "Hints of chocolate, hot leather and spice."
ReplyDeleteMysore nuggets and hot leather . . . thanks, no.
The beer is Belgian (as am I), and tastes really good The pink elephants on the logo is what you supposedly see when going through a delirium tremens :)
ReplyDeleteI think something else besides my nuggets would be sore if I drank coffee that evokes gustatory associations
ReplyDeleteof chocolate and "hot leather". Yecccccch.
"Yummy java honey, tastes just like Pa's old saddle." Hmm maybe this brew would be great to wash down some Pony pizza.
If you haven't tried delirium tremens, it is absolutely delicious.
ReplyDeleteI expected the penguins to break into song- "Never gonna give you up"! And hey, don't knock the pony till you've tried it- Italian children have horse meat baby food (Cavallo). I saw it for sale at our NATO base. Were horse slaughterhouses still legal in the US, we'd have lots less mistreated and underfed horses.
ReplyDeleteYes, Mysore is a city in India folks; but that doesn't mean that "Mysore nuggets" isn't funny. It is!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love those flying penguins; now those are real "artisanal" birds
Perhaps the guy from Bisbee Roasters took up RET Physical Therapy on their offer?
ReplyDelete"The tunnels, ladders, and chutes are all part of Mohegan Sun's new 'Baby Roulette' game! If your baby lands on your number, you could win big! And don't forget to check out 'Kiddie Keno' and 'Tot Slots!!!'"
ReplyDeleteOn my way in to work this morning, I heard a Dunkin Donuts commercial advertising their new "Artisinal Bagels". Facepalm.
ReplyDeleteBoy, I don't know how they play Baby Roulette at Mohegan Sun, but around here it takes a lot less equipment than that.
ReplyDeleteFrom my feed reader, there was no indication of the final video as prank, just an image inviting me to "Invest in myself" from Walden University - your advertiser, of course.
ReplyDeleteI initially thought it was a statement on your opinion of the school. :)
I really wish penguins could do that!
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if penguins could evolve quickly enough to deal with the melting ice. Love the other smilies. Artisanal evokes a one-of-the kind or personally concocted that a mass-produced canvas grills just does NOT.
ReplyDelete"Hello, I'd like to purchase an argument."
ReplyDeletelol! Bisbee is great coffee though :)
ReplyDeleteNew - Dunkin Donuts Artisan Bagels :O

Hilarious :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a little late to the discussion, but what the heck.
ReplyDeleteYes, Mysore Nuggets is a hilarious name. I occasionally hear one of the crew yelling somewhere in the shop, "HEY! WANNA SAMPLE MYSORE NUGGETS?"
Killer coffee, though (I am, admittedly, biased). This latest batch is bold, creamy, and dry.
