I'd like to thank PJ for bringing this important research to my attention.
In an effort to settle the question of whether or not laptop computers contribute to infertility, a research group attached temperature sensors to volunteers' scrotums and recorded how they changed when using a laptop. They did this with & without lap pads, and in various sitting positions.
How come these articles never say how much they paid the volunteers?
Here's the link.
Wow. Roasted peanuts.
ReplyDeleteDid they control for what was being displayed on the laptop? I can imagine that some content might make my mansack hotter than others.
ReplyDeleteWho paid for this research? Jeez.
ReplyDeletei think it is the other way around. my nads warm the computer. if the keyboard is on my lap, the fan is always on. lift up the front edge.... much quieter.
ReplyDeleteIt would indeed be interesting to know what men charge for having a temperature sensor attached to their nutsack. Personally I would like to charge for having to tape ball bearings to my nipples prior to chest radiographs...
ReplyDeleteAwesome. LOL. I needed that laugh. Wonder how much their volunteers were paid as well.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of my sister who is going to radiology tech school and was desperately trying to get volunteers for something similar.

ReplyDeleteA story, with photo, about the dangers of keeping your laptop on your, well, lap.
I remember many years ago watching an episode of Real Sex on HBO (a grossly underrated series if you ask me) and they were going over how in Japan men will soak their fun bags in very hot water on a daily basis to inhibit spermatogenesis.
ReplyDeleteAnd it works. I just don't feel like dunking my boys in tea every day.
Did they actually have to pay the men? I mean, they're getting quite a bit of attention, make the researchers women taping various things to their ahem, man parts, and taking temperature readings. I'm sure that if the researchers were attractive you could get men to line up around the block to do this for free.
ReplyDeletecaptcha, monia - what the men in this study were doing when the temperature went up
payment would be for taking the monitors off.
ReplyDeleteGet paid? hell I'd do it for free. Well, as long as the person attaching the electrodes was cute. Oh, and female.
ReplyDeleteThe first requirement isn't that important either.
I work with a lot of single moms who's sperm donors are out and about being charitable to multiple partners. Maybe we should pass out lap tops instead of condoms?
ReplyDeleteWatch for the follow-up paper on pain associated with having tape pulled off the nutsack.
ReplyDeletestupid...no guy has ever had a pizza or a puppy in his lap and all the chefs that were too hot by the stove got out of the kitchen?
ReplyDeleteDid they even bother to think about how many would have a temp increase from jerking off to net porn? That would have to be accounted for in the results.
