Staying active in pregnancy

Now, there are A LOT of things that a pregnant woman can do safely, but medical myths would lead you to believe otherwise. My esteemed colleague The Mother tackles the ones about pregnancy and alcohol today, and I strongly recommend reading it.

But there are some things pregnant women, especially those IN FREAKIN' LABOR, should absolutely not be doing.

Such as robbing a store.

Like this lady.

Really.

I'd like to thank my reader Kayden for submitting this.

  1. Thanks for the heads up. I will now know not to throttle my daughter in law if she chooses to have a glass of wine at her shower.

  2. Unfortunately, this will be taken out of context by some young women who will have more than a moderate amount and follow it with other recreational drugs. We have a high drinking rate in our state - this will only add fuel to their stupidity.

  3. Wow. And stealing computer software? I don't know what most women think about in labor but I wouldn't think computer software would be at the top of my list. Not even the top 10.

  4. Are there really no comments on this post? Honestly?

The only thing I wanted to do in labor was either get shot up with drugs or die.

I cannot imagine anything a store would have that would be worth postponing my appt with the epidural specialist.

  8. I could give you a long, long list of what a pregnant woman should NOT do whilst in labor... but that's neither her nor there... robbing a store while contracting? You can't make that up. Crazy.

  9. When my SIL went into labor with her third child, she was out on a tractor, cultivating a corn field. She considered the weather report, the number of acres she had left and the minutes between contractions and decided to keep going. She got another 50 acres done before she had to head to town.

  10. Turns out she wasn't in labor (or even pregnant) she told the cops she was to avoid going to jail...

  12. Megan, I'm not surprised. I thought she couldn't possibly be in full labour - I just wanted it to be over then and remember saying twice "I want my mum!"
