Like most doctors, we have a sign-in sheet. It's not much, people just write their names and the time they arrived.
Mary usually tosses the old one and puts out a new sheet for the next day when she leaves at night, but forgot to yesterday.
So today's first patient comes in, and looks at this long sign-in list of patients seen between 8:00 and 5:00. And she looks at Mary and says "Oh, I had no idea you guys were working night hours now. That would be better for my schedule, too."
And what kind of patient care do you actually think you would give/receive at 03:00 if you were not in a hospital??

Did Mary smile and play along? :)
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine the blog fodder night hours would generate? However, you'd go mental and end up needing heavy duty psych care...
ReplyDelete"That way, when the clubs close, I can go to the neurologist instead of to Denny's. And it would be really convenient if you could install a drive-thru window."
ReplyDeleteSomeone I know in the US just made an appt with an immunologist for 3:00am. Apparently they only have new patient appts between 3-6am.
ReplyDeleteTell her it's the sleep clinic...to train patients how not to need to sleep...whala...insomnia cured.
ReplyDeleteBe careful: a sign-in sheet can get you a gazillion dollar HIPPA fine.
ReplyDeleteSign-in sheets are not a HIPAA violation if they only have names and times.
