Thank you for faxing me Mr. Crunch's hospital records from his overnight stay there last week.
You can stop now. I swear. We faxed the release 5 hours ago. So far we've received back 22 faxed copies of MY OWN RELEASE (it was a fax, I promise we have the original) from you and 18 copies of his 14 page hospital records. At this rate I'm going to have to send Mary to Costco for more paper.
I'm sure getting a release from a real gosh-durn big city doctor-o-medicine was the most exciting thing to happen at your hospital since a paint truck overturned there in 1999, but you should try to curb your enthusiasm. I have all that I need now, and you can stop.
Id bet they are getting an error message on their end and keep faxing it.
ReplyDeleteThey either send you too damn much or not at all what you asked for or, more often than not, both. And it doesn't matter where the hospital is. I do my own hospital release forms - I never let my staff fill out those things. Micromanagement, a little? Yeah, but I specify EXACTLY what I want. I hate it when someone in the health center (who doesn't know my idiosyncrasies) sends a request for "All Records." AARRGGHH! I HATE "All Records." I don't want "All Records!" I just want what I want. I need to stop this comment before I explode. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHah, maybe fax all the copies back :P
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me of the time I got multiple sets of pre-authorization numbers for upper and lower limb MRI. I think there were at least 8 each. Totally baffling that they OK'ed ALL of them. Than they mailed me each pre-auth letter in individual envelopes.
I checked for the extra sets of limbs CareCore thought I had, they aren't there. I wouldn't mind 2nd set of arms... with ability to hide them like Stitch did in Lilo and Stitch.
In high school, I took my boyfriend (my THEN boyfriend) to the ER because he'd hurt himself tripping over a pig.
ReplyDeleteNow I get to go to those gosh-durn big city docs, and it's much better.
Well, at least they faxed them to you and not the local radio station, deli or somewhere equally unsuitable. Or did they do that as well?
ReplyDeleteWhen people would annoy me like that with faxes, I would tape 3 or 4 pieces of black paper in a loop and let it "fax" black all night long to them!! They figured out that it was a waste of ink on their part and a waste of ink if they kept sending me stuff too!!
ReplyDeleteCount yourself lucky. At least it was a) only 14 pages, b) actually contained the information you were looking for, c) wasn't 200+ pages of repeated CBCs and panel sevens, and d) was actually legible. Not that this have ever happened to me before....
ReplyDeleteWell, that's almost as bad as the 200 pages of nursing notes faxed to me today from Outside Hospital. No H&P or radiographs, of course.
