Dr. Grumpy: "At your last visit you started Inderal for the migraines. Has it helped?"
Mr. Hedhertz: "Nope."
Dr. Grumpy: "Any side effects?"
Mr. Hedhertz: "Nope."
Dr. Grumpy: "What dose did you build up to?"
Mr. Hedhertz: "Um, actually I forgot to get it filled."
Well, geez, he went to the doctor, he got a prescription... now you say he actually has to take the meds for them to be effective?!
ReplyDeleteClearly, you should have prescribed one of those magical medications that just requires you to stare at the prescription and wish really hard...
classic.
ReplyDeleteDo you just want to crack some of your patients up side the head once in a while?
ReplyDeleteProbably has a fascinating internet sex life, too.
ReplyDeleteAs a life-long migraine sufferer, this offends me! His migraines can't be too troublesome, if he can forget to get the prescription filled.
ReplyDeleteI use the same rationale when buying an exercise DVD -- simply by owning the DVD I should be able to firm up and lose weight! lol
ReplyDeleteShe came back to you why? Head must not have hurt too bad....
ReplyDeleteThere is not enough Diet Coke in the WORLD to make that any less annoying.

I have to say, I used to be that patient. I think that I was hoping that there was a one-dose cure, or some procedure that would permanently fix the problem. I wasn't trying to be a pain in the butt, just didn't want to face the prospect of dealing with a chronic problem.
ReplyDeleteI'm smarter than I used to be and now actually DO the treatment my doctor and I agree upon. Not a cure, but a definite improvement in my quality of life. Doc and I are both happier :)
The patient was not fluent in Doctish and mistranslated "Take this prescription" as "Yabba dabba dooba maybe".
ReplyDeleteI want you to know that reading this reminded me to take my evening dose of Advair. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNo sympathy at all! Some migraines they must be!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Quisp, I too am a lifelong migraine sufferer who has had the misfortune of them becoming so severe that I now have to be on pain management program to function. Either his migraines are not that bad or even exist or he was really just looking for narcotics and when he realized he didn't get the narcotic he didn't bother to fill the prescription. When you suffer real migraines you will try anything to stop it..I know!!
