Hey! This is like a ride!

And what a ride it is.

I'm shocked to look at the calender.

Today is 1 year since my first post.

Now, 365 days and 615 posts later, here I am.

I started writing this just to bitch. I had no idea so many others would enjoy it.

In 1 year I've gone from 1 daily reader (me) and zero blogger followers to 2800 daily readers and 231 Blogger followers.

And all I can say is THANK YOU, to all of you. Your comments and emails and idea/story contributions have made this more fun than I EVER dreamed it would be.

I'll keep writing as long as it's fun and the patients give me reasons too. Which will likely be a long time.

Dr. Grumpy.

I don't really know which is funnier: your Patients, others in your profession., and even the family tales.

Not bad for a Yak herder.

Can't wait to read about your next vacation!!

  22. Thank you so much for becoming the entertainment value in so many humdrum days. I need to get everyone in this hospital with a sense of humor (five or six people that I know of) to read you every day. And thanks to your patients, staff, drug reps, your family and even to your dogs for providing blogging fodder. Happy Holidays, Dr. G. and to all Grumpyites everywhere!

  26. Yay! Happy Blogiversary!
I've only been reading you for maybe a month or two, but it's so addictive I've been gradually burrowing into your archives. I think last night I finished May 2009.

    This must make me a Grumpy-Junkie. :)

My first blog post was in August 2006, so I hit my three-year mark a few months ago. Every year I'm amazed that the time has flown so fast.

I hope you're in the blogosphere for many, many years to come. :)

  27. no, thank you. you're blog is the funnest of them all!

It'll be a *very* long time, then. We'll never run out of stupid...

Congrats! I just started reading your blog about a month ago--right after I left a pain management practice and moved to the somewhat saner world of internal medicine. Thank you for making me laugh everyday.

  34. Happy Blogiversary Dr. G, and your staff as well...I feel like I "know" them through your writing. Can I send some cookies? :)

As one reader said above, I too check your posts on my iphone before getting out of bed. Grumpy junkies unite!

  35. Happy blogiversary Dr. Grumpy! I never, ever miss a day. I do love, love your blog.

  36. I don't remember how I came to find your blog, but I sure am glad I did! Every occupation has its quirks, bad points -and thankfuly, yes usually some good ones too. But it's so nice, refreshing and fun to read your take on your patients, drug reps, other doctors and all. Rarely do you fail to entertain and often educate too in the process and there are some days when I really need to hear someone else be sarcastic, cynical and yet, happy too. Renews me, it does!
    Have a great Holiday!

  37. Congrats Dr. Grumpy! You have no idea how much laughter you have provided and how much I appreciate your blog. Three of my friends are following you now also.

Congrats again on your one year anniversary!

  38. Your blog is actually the only site besides worldofwarcraft.com that I have bookmarked on my ipod. I really enjoy your writing style. Thanks for taking time out of your life to share with us!

  39. To Quote Capt. Schmoe,

    "No, THANK YOU Dr. Grumpy".

Hands down, your blog is my favorite of all of them out there.

  40. Your blog is freaking hillarious! It gets me through some pretty hair raising shifts because I know that there are other shit magnets out there! A couple of the nurses and docs try to take out 20 minutes each shift to share in the funnies. Congrats on the anniversary :)

  41. Congratulations on your blogiversary, Dr. Grumpy. It is a testament to you and your readers that I, in my short attention span for such things, continue to check back on a regular basis. You improve the quality of my craptacular cubicle more than you know. (No offense to my amazing boss, who I see on here in comments more often than I see her in person.)

  42. Happy Anniversary!
I am a kind of new reader, stumbled across your blog just a week or so ago, but I read all entries and I am looking forward to many more!

  43. There are two blogs I check every day - and yours is one. I like to laugh out loud, and it helps me see the ridiculous in my job and my patients. Thanks for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thanks bunches Dr. Grumpy!!! My day is not complete unless I catch up on all your craziness. And that bouncy horse...used to have one just like it, until the seat cracked, then the bouncing and rocking pulled that seat crack open just enough to pinch my @$$ something fierce then clamp back down on my shorts so I couldn't climb off. Mom found me still on the horse long after she called for dinner...I'd whimpered myself into a lather and lost my voice. Yeah, thanks for bringing back horrific childhood memories Dr. Grumpy! ;^)

  45. Like all the rest, I just love your blog, writing style, sense of humor, cynicism, and your unique spin on how to deal with people that have trouble gripping the obvious, and no common sense. As someone already stated, since there is no shortage of stupid, I look forward to reading your blog for YEARS to come! Thank you for everything!

  46. I didn't read through the previous comments (51 at the time), but I can bet I'm not the first to say THANK YOU for your stories and anecdotes. For me, they're a nice winddown at night after a long day of pushing pills.

Best wishes to you and the Grumpy family, and may 2010 bring you good stories, good times, and - of course - plenty of Diet Coke.
