Dr. Grumpy: "Has the medication helped?"
Mr. Son: "I think mom is doing okay with it, and the staff at the Alzheimer's home tell me..."
Mrs. Mother: "Wait... the place I'm living at is for Alzheimer's disease?"
Mr. Son: "Yes, mom."
Mrs. Mother: "Why do I live there, anyway?"
"Why am I always the last to know?"
ReplyDeleteThe week my father spent on a train in France convinced me it was time for him to make the move. The nurse "interviewing" him was a bit stuck for an answer when he asked her how they got the furniture on the train. I told him they have porters for that.
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing about Alzheimer's, your always making new friends!
ReplyDeleteYou can answer that question differently every single time to amuse yourself and she'll never know it. Alzheimer's is the gift that keeps on giving.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure she has asked that question before (probably many many times every time she sees him).
ReplyDeleteI'd find this one funnier if my own husband weren't far beyond knowing who he is, who I am, where he is, or that he has Alzheimer's. In fact, if Mrs. Mother still has clear speech at all, she's ahead of my DH.
ReplyDeleteBecause it's affordable and in a good school district.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things I wish there was a cure for. Last visit to my Doctor drew this answer, it might be essential tremor or maybe it’s the start of Parkinson’s. So the lesson learned is that upon attainment of the biblical 3 score and 10 just stop asking.
ReplyDeleteThe scientist(s) that find a cure for Alzheimer's deserve all the medals, the Nobel, and the $$$ we can shower on them. It is a horrible, horrible disease. After seeing Mom through it, it is worse than cancer.
